eightlein Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Wants to know if my system will support Pac Fighters before I buy. Have SF/WOV and they work fine. celeron 2.1ghz 512 ram radeon 9200se vid card 128mb Thanks in advance. Quote
Revvin Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 The specs on the box say: win98/Me/XP PIII or AMD Athlon 1Ghz 512mb RAM 64Mb vid memory 1.1GB HDD You're specs should be ok, you will have to turn down a little detail though but the IL-2/PF sereis is very scalable to suit a wide variety of specs. Before you buy though did you see the main page at Combatace? There is a DVD version coming which includes IL-2, the Aces Expansion and Pacific Fighters and all the content (planes and terrains) included in the free patches. It's well worth getting both IL-2:FB and PF as that is generally what is played online but also offline you will have a huge array of missions and campaign's to fly not to mention over 200 planes to choose from! It's out at the end of the month which is not far away! Quote
Big Mac Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 The latest information is that the "all in one" DVD will only be available in EU, at least for now. Quote
ODBTuv Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I wouldnt want to discourage anyone from getting PF eightlein but i would have to agree with revvin about the merged install, there is a bigger community flying the merged one. I would also have to say you are not going to get the best from the game in terms of graphics from your system, 512 is a minimum spec but bear in mind that 1.5Gig of RAM is considered by many flying PF to be essential. As the patchs progress the demands on the system get a little heavier. I would recommend this sim but be prepared to get hooked and find yourself looking to upgrade to get the best from it!! Quote
Revvin Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 (edited) Yes you can never have too much RAM, been considering another GB to add to the one I have after seeing the loading times drop and performance increase on heavy resource hogs such as Battlefield 2. That said though IL-2 can be tuned to suit a great many specs so the one posted by eightlein should be enough to get him into the sim and then he'll end up as sad mad and addicted as the rest of us :D Edited March 25, 2006 by Revvin Quote
charlielima Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Well well. Imagine bumping into you here. If you like driving A-20s, P-47s, F6Fs, and Beufighters, This is the place. give it a shot and then up grade the black box to match. It will turn your screws. CL Quote
