Guest zerocinco Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Probably so far back in WOV time that nobody cares but: There is a skin (by Sundowner, I think) that shows the F-4D in Night Owl livery. It just never shows up. The reason is the usual...a typo. If you want to run Night Owl missions then you'll make these changes to his posting. (What's a Night Owl mission, Mr. Zero? Well, Young Gamer, soon you'll be doing a strike under flares in Mu Gia Pass. You'll be flying an F-4E...sort of a Nocturnal E-mission.) 1- The folder (or directory) for the skin in the F-4D folder is named "black". You need to rename the folder "F-4D black" and in the F-4D.INI enter the texture set. I have these in mine. [TextureSet001] Directory=USAFtng1 Name=USAF T.O. 1-1-4 SEA Camo Nation=USAF Squadron=433TFS Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.850000 Reflection=0.000000 [TextureSet002] Directory=366 Name=USAF 366TFW Gunfighters Nation=USAF Squadron=389,390,480 TFS Specular=0.200000 Glossiness=0.450000 Reflection=0.000000 [TextureSet003] Directory=F-4D black Name=Night Owls Nation=USAF Squadron=497TFS Specular=0.100000 Glossiness=0.250000 Reflection=0.000000 2- There is no Texture Set in the "black or F-4D black" folder. Drag/copy one from the existing skin into the "black" folder then open it and change it to read: [TextureSet] Name=Night Owls Nation=USAF Squadron=497TFS Specular=0.10 Glossiness=0.25 Reflection=0.00 3- The patches will show up when you change the directory name in the Decal file. [Decal012] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-4d\f-4d black\OWL Position=5.00,-0.210 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.25 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal013] MeshName=fuselage_P DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-4d\f-4d black\Badge Position=5.00,-0.210 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.25 DecalMaxLOD=4 Why bother? Because it looks cool. If you want scary, eerie and realistic, come out and play in the dark.
+Dave Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 If you wait a bit, Sundowner is doing a high res Night Owls skins.
Guest zerocinco Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I like his stuff but for my needs, a skin for a night fighter isn't going to be real visual anyway. As is my obsession, I will use it how it was used. (That sounds insane.) His 366 is time-limited. I was wondering how one adjusts the tail LETTERS. When I punch up a squadron of the 366th after his dates, it gives the 4th (LA) a yellow tail flash, the 421st (LC) a red tail flash, but the 390th has no blue flash and BK instead of LF. Certainly nothing I would want someone else to do. I'll fix it if I know how.
