Dis-similar weapon loads

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm new to WoE and this forum so i'm probably asking a question that's covered elsewhere tho' i can't find it anywhere, what i would like to know is if it's possible to put dissimilar weapon loads on any aircraft, for instance, an F-4 with 2 different type of bombs on port and starboard inner pylons,or maybe an ECM pod on centreline pylon ? I see that in campaign mode at least the A-10 offers 2sidewinders to starboard and an ecm pod to port so i would guess it must be possible to do something similar for all aircraft.

Hope i'm not being too much of a noob asking this and i would be grateful if someone can give me an answer, even if its just tp say it's not possible :)) Thx in advance..

Oh and btw is it possible to post skins to this forum?

1st...... Welcome aboard!

2nd.... You can customize your loadout's by tweaking the loadout.ini and data.ini in the aircraft folder.

You can use notepad to tweak them. Check the knowledge base here and the forums at other sites such as SimHq, Column5 and Thirdwire.

3rd.... No worries mate.... We were all NOOBS at one time... and some of us still act like that... :haha:

4th.... The download section is seperate from the forums and feel free to share your work with us. :fans:

If you just want to post the pics just add the img url with the code from your web space.

Thx Sidewinder for the warm welcome and speedy reply, i'll certainly do as you suggest and hopefully i will be able to make sense of it all ( wait for more posts begging for help lol ) , as to skins i haven't really done anything serious yet except play about with the F-4 where i made a fictional tiger skin and altered the stock RAF skin to look ( a bit ) like a temporary winter scheme. Theyre good enough for me but i don't know if i feel up to posting them here lol.

When Il2-skins was running i posted a few there ( all fictional cos i'm not really into researching proper skins nor skillful enough to make them work ) including a tiger skin Me109 and various others and they seemed fairly popular with some people but i think i'm gonna need a lot of practice before i post any here but here's a couple of pics hope you like them

In order to get different loadouts, you have to modify the aircraft's data.ini file. In the weapon pylon section, you have to check the weapon station grouping. Let's say you want an F-14 to be able to carry a LANTIRN pod on one wing station and an AIM-7 or -54 on the other along with the usual 2 AIM-9's for self-escort on strike missions. The Tomcat's glove pylons are grouped together, making this impossible without modification (i.e. you carry 2 Sparrows or 2 LANTIRN pods, but not one of each.) Oh yeah, and you have to give it the ability to use LANTIRN in the first place by adding "LP" to the AllowedWeaponClass...

Checking the stations in question (MissileStation1 and 2)

[MissileStation1]

SystemType=Weapon_Station

StationID=11

StationGroupID=4

StationType=EXTERNAL

etc...

then

[MissileStation2]

SystemType=Weapon_Station

StationID=12

StationGroupID=4 <-This is what will have to be modified

etc...

Switch the StationGroupID on MissileStation2 from 4 to 5. This will now allow you to fly with one Phoenix and one LANTIRN pod, but because a different pylon is used for Sparrows, you'll have to correct that one also. Go down to MissileStation2bis and change the StationGroupID from 4 to 5, and now you have the option of flying with one Sparrow and LANTIRN as well; you can also fly with one Sparrow and one Phoenix, or one Sparrow or Phoenix with any other weapon that your pylon supports on the other station, including the normal loadouts of 2 Sidewinder, 2 Sparrow or 2 Phoenix by selecting one of each. Hope this helped!

EDIT: I think the fuel tanks are ID=5 on the Tomcat, so if you mod it, you may want to select ID=6 rather than 5 on the pylons in question.

any number for the new Station ID (gonna try that anyway should be interesting if i'm wrong lol.

Thx again to everyone who have been so quick and kind to give me your invaluable advice , as we say here

(N.E.England) yer all canny lads (translation You are all very nice gentlemen) hehe

P.S For anyone interested i'm working on putting Tiger skins on the F-18 and F-16 but finding it tough going

atm finding where everything fits etc, I would really like to do a Belgian Air Force F-16 with Tigerskin as i

have some pics of that and also a decal sheet from the model that i started building and never finished ( I

Just a quick note on the number of group ID's you can have: there is a limit of 6. In other words, if you wanted to make each pylon individual on a fighter with more than 6 pylons, you would loose the ability to select the loadout on pylons 7 and beyond (they default to whatever is in the loadout.ini). On my Tomcat, I have 6 groups for weapons, and my last group ID for the fuel tanks is 7. This means I can no longer select whether or not my 'Cats have external fuel in-game, I have to do so in the loadout.ini; but because I always carry external fuel anyhow, and can jettison the tanks any time I'd like, this doesn't affect me in any way.

On other fighters, such as the F-15 or -16, where external fuel creates a drag penalty (the Tomcat's don't, or might very nominally) it could have a more adverse affect if you didn't want to load external tanks, or wanted to have discression on whether or not the tanks are loaded. Just keep this in mind when you group the pylons: 6 usable ID's, and beyond that it's the loadout.ini default.

OK Caesar and all others who took the time to explain things i think i've finally got the hang of this ,just tried it and i can now hang an ECM pod under one wing and a chaff/flare pod under the other so guess the rest should be easy. It's just a shame that you're limited to 6 groups (sigh) but i suppose things would just get silly if you could have all the stations carrying different weapons lol. So once again many thx.
