delang13 Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I want to replace the cargo ship in the Anti-Ship missions with a ship that fires back. I tried to use the PT-147 but that hasn't worked. Can someone tell me where to get a ship that will fire back and how to substitute it for the cargo ship and tanker? Quote
+whiteknight06604 Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 If you want a ship to show up in single missions you need to remove the cargoship and tanker and the add the desired ship.The in the ships data.ini change the type from WARSHIP to CARGO_SHIP and it should show.just make sure that you fly at a time(year) when the ship is available. +whiteknight06604 Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 So you're saying is totally remove the cargoship and tanker files from the ground objects folder and replace them with the ship I want to add? yes.I find that changing the tanker and cargoship names works best because if you use a mission that needs it you just need to restore the original name.just make sure you add enough ships to cover the dates you want to use otherwise no ship will be in the mission.Alsothe ships nation effects weather it apears or not if you only have Soviet ships loaded and you fly a mission using a soviet plane no ship will be there and you will get a mission complete messege as soon as the mission starts. You can take any of the ships, this example is from the original Liberty Ship's data ini (with only a single 40mm gun), and do something like this: [MissionData] NationName=GENERIC ServiceStartYear=1940 ServiceEndYear=2045 GroundObjectRole=CARGO_SHIP Availability=VERY_COMMON FormationSizeBase=8 FormationSizeVariation=4 The nationname will allow it's use by either side, and it's role as 'CARGO_SHIP' will allow its' appearence in anti-ship missions With some tweeking of a terrain's targets and types ini, they can also be added a 'docked' objects in ports. (see the WW2 Lybia mod for examples -- all over the map!) Soviet or Western warships can also be changed to "CARGO_SHIP", with their nationnames intact, and will apper in anti-ship missions Mind you, carriers are industrucable, due to the flight deck having to act as a runway (although I'm sure an industrious modder can fix that, and have them 'in port' as well, possibly set as a warehouse or seomthing) Wrench Kevin Stein Quote
