New to the Game

Hi all,

 

Just got WOE in the mail today, waiting for WOV, not sure if I will get the valuesoft SFP (is it worth it?)

 

Just wondering, any good guides to the game, or any "essential" mods I should get? besides the weapons pack of couse... The manual for the game is definitely um... sparse.

make sure you get familar with the knowledge base and the downloads section. You can use the search also.

A vast wealth of info is available as well as mods to suit your taste. The utilities that are available are also a must. You will want the extractor tool for sure. Most questions asked are usually answered in a short time.

Also visit some of the links for info. Good Luck. I'm sure there will be additional suggestions from other members.

Eightlein has already given you the best advice of all. Just read, read, read. The knowledge base, especially the SF editing notes, which explain much about the file structure. Learn the file structure using the extractor to open things up so you can look at them. When you're searching the forums, just remember that the first way you phrase your search terms may not be the best way, so don't give up, just change the terms and ask again. This has happened to me a million times, and not just here. Also, do the same search on all the forums. Sometimes that yields results in odd places, because you can't predict where someone with a question might ask it. Almost everything you need to know is out there already. With a good search technique and a little time, you can find it. Lots of stuff here, almost all for free. Enjoy.
