I am about a month or two into my campaign. I've already shot down 50+ migs, bombed X number of airbases, and it doesn't seem like we are doing anything offensively on the ground.

 

It looks as if the Russians moved in more SAMs (which I am destroying).

 

So what is the key to winning a campaign? About how long does it take (in terms of game months)?

I'm not sure what the actual goals are to winning a campaign.

 

However, as you probably know you can set the length of a campaign.

 

So: Short = 30 missions ; Normal = 60 missions ; Long = 120 missions

 

These approx. lengths also vary a little bit depending on how you're going.

I didn't know that. Ironically, I won my first campaign today.

It would feel more "dynamic" if the lines could shift.

The lines can definately shift. Something unusual must have been going on in that particular campaign.
