File Name: IL2 M 38 ARROW

File Submitter: IFE

File Submitted: 23 Mar 2006

File Category: IL2 Skins

IL-2 (originally of 622 ShAP, at the time in the 967 ShAP) flown by Kpt. Vinshikovskiy and S. Szht. Romistrov during the 11-day campaign against the Japanese occupation forces of China in 1945.

camo -via- Bob Partridge.

(The later Il-2 - two-seater with the wooden "swept" wings - was called 'so strelkoi', but that's because that basically means "arrow". In other words, "swept wings". Everything one sees in the press referring to the "Il-2M" or "Il-2M3" is completely wrong and doesn't mean anything.)
