Great Frame Rate Improvement trick

On my quest for frame rate nirvana I stumbled onto a neat trick.

 

Go to any aircraft skin folder and delete the decals.ini file,

 

I went from 30 to 60 frames per second. Apparently a huge ammount of CPU power is used to cover the planes with decals. I did this to opponent airplanes too and the frame rate for dogfights stays very high, never below 30 for me.

This has a down side, Your planes have a more basic appearance, If you are interested in historical accuracy this is not the way to go. I like the simple basic look of the planes.

 

If your after pure air combat game play give this a shot, The planes fly so great I made the tradeoff.

 

Try with one or two planes before you batch delete.
