Is there a better sun mod available anywhere for WOV? The stock one seems kinda "cartoon-ish," i was looking for a bit realistic look to it. If there isn't one, does anyone know the files located at for the sun mod so i can see if i can alter it through photoshop or something.

You can alter the appearance of the sun by editing the 'EnvironmentSystem.ini' text file; a graphics program like Photoshop wouldn't do the trick for you.

 

The 'ES.ini' file is bundled in the 'FlightData.cat' file located in the WOV 'Flight' folder. You can extract the 'ES.ini' file using the extract utility downloadable from CombatAce.

oh, any recommended settings i should add to the files? Like have any of you edited the sun mod, if so, could you PM me and upload your file so i can use it as an example and see if i like it in my WOV?

These are my enviro settings; I can't remember all that relate specifically to the sun, unfortunately.

 

Use your text editor to create a file called 'EnvironmentSystem.ini' and cut and paste the attached data to it. Put the new file in your 'Flight' folder. If you don't like the results, just delete the file.

Addendum: The guy who seems to do the most experimenting with lighting effects is Lexx Luthor. I'd check out posts by him at the Thirdwire site for more lighting ideas; that's where I picked up a lot of my info.

Yes, I'd recommend getting Lex Luthor's Nuke mod, which includes his sun mod.

 

I think it's the best I have seen. I don't use the nukes but I wanted the Sun.

 

It seems quite realistic - You can just make out the disc of the sun in the strong glare (with fading edges), similar to what you see when actually looking at the sun.

Do you have old Lex Luthor's Nuke mod, becouse this version on combatace is without Enviro mods like new sun effect.

You guys should probably just ask Lexx directly for recommendations on sun settings; he may have discovered something even better since releasing his nuke mod. Key data are probably just a handful of values in the 'ESini' file.
