Dutchy 0 Posted May 16, 2003 Who's gonna to airshows this year and what hope and expect you to see? I'm gonna to Sweden and hopely I see many old Swedisch planes in Lulea. And the midnight sun there. Never been so north in my live. Off course I go to Twenthe airshow for two days in my own country. I hope for many nose-arts this year. Beer 0 Posted May 16, 2003 The ODB and other squads (GFA, 87FIS) from Janes USAF are planning on meeting at the Dayton Ohio Show (Mid July). Being the 100th anniversery of flight, it promises to be a good one! Will post pics and an article (likely in conjunction with Fates) hopefully with streaming media (wife was pissed when I picked up the camera last month :)) Here is a link http://simdayton.homestead.com/links.html Cheers Beer
Dutchy 0 Posted May 16, 2003 That looks good Beer. My vacation to USA in October was cancelled. Reason was the war (but the canceling was for the Iraqi Freedom). So I have to do with European airshows in Sweden and The Netherlands. Next year I come. Greetings Dutchy
+ext 52 Posted May 16, 2003 First weekend in June heading to the Winnipeg International airshow in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. There will be lots of zoom and boom with shows put on by the Hornet, Falcon. F-117 Stealth.F-5 and the Snowbirds. The main reason for going this year is the F-14 Tomcat. I have never seen one. After all the threads about wanting one in the game SF I have go look.
Dutchy 0 Posted May 16, 2003 F-14 is great. I have seen some here in the Netherlands. By Frisian Flag, that is a little Red Flag. And I had seen some in USA by a airshow. What you expect do you get. Tell me how it was in Winnipeg. Greetings Dutchy
CowboyTodd41 134 Posted May 16, 2003 I'm going to the Whiteman AFB airshow, based there are the all of the B-2 Spirits and the 442nd TFW flying O/A-10's, I've flown with the squadron commander in his Piper Cub, nothing like flying with a guy whose won the William Tell competition! Then it's off to the "secret handshake" of the aviation world, Oshkosh, one week, hot planes, even hotter girls, what could be better! I'm sure there will be others too. +pcpilot 181 Posted May 18, 2003 The Ramona Air Fair is comin up in a couple weeks, May 30th to June 1st. It started back in 1995 with only 3000 people attending. Was to help support the families of 6 fire fighting aircraft crewmembers who were killed in a very bad fire year in mid air collisions. The worst was right over Ramona when an old constellation was coming in to land same time as a OV-10 bronco and down they went nearly in the Kmart shopping center. One person was killed on the ground and 3 in the aircraft. Last year over 25,000 came to the 3 day show. We had two Navy F-18 Hornets fly in. LOVED how they did it too, flyin low and FAST! Let all Ramona know they were here, hehe. (Good ole NAVY... :D ) All the firefighting aircraft were there including S-2 Trackers and the new replacement aircraft, cant recall what they are called. They had a Sikorsky "Sky Crane" helo and OV-10's. They had Chuck Halls' P-51D and somebody's Ford Tri motor giving people rides for a fee. There was an old forestry PBY Catalina that flew in. Lets see, a F4U corsair, a PT-19 Stearman, several A-1 Skyraiders, a F8F Bearcat (VEEEEERY KEWL!), and probably 50 or 60 civilian aircraft of all strips. I bought a nice T shirt with a P40 from the AVG "Hell's Angels" Squadron on it, got a pencil drawing of "Gabby" Gabreski with his signature on it. Ate my way thru several sausage dogs and a beer while watching radio controlled aircraft, rode my bike around the flight line, chatted with a few local pilots, and watched several different flybys by various aircraft. All in all, and excellent aviation enthusiasts' sorta day, hehe. :D 8) Link that tells a little about it is here...http://www.ramonaairfair.org/index.htm Coupla images... http://www.ramonaairfair.org/images/airfai...02/Image51.html http://www.ramonaairfair.org/images/airfai...02/Image65.html
