Stupid Vista and WOV, SFP1

I have tried everything mentioned in the forum to get these games to work with Vista - but to avail. I've updates DirectX, set the compatibility of the program, etc etc. Does anyone have any idea why I still can't get the sims to work? I'm getting that stupid "missing .dll" message - again, despite a DirectX upgrade. Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for thelp. I still can't get the sims to work, but at least I am doing something about it, whihc helps a little.
