I read dozens of Mig-21 books and manuals and the over sites and it is the same as the real Mig-21F-13. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Install^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Place in your aircraft folder and fly!!!!! You would also need Fubur's sounds if you want engine sound. Or download OTC for those sounds :) *******************************History******************************************* Manufacturer: Mikoyan-Gurevich, Russia Designation: MIG-21F-13 Version: Nickname: Fishbed C Type: Fighter Specifications Length: 15.76 meters Height: 4.1 meters Wingspan: 7.15 meters Crew: 1 Armament: One NR-30 30mm cannon plus two K-13A air-to-air missiles Gross Weight: max. takeoff - 8625 kg Propulsion No. of Engines: 1 Powerplant: Tumansky R-11F-300 turbojet Pounds of thrust: 5740kg with afterburner Performance Range: 1300km (1670km with tanks) Cruising Speed: 550 mph Max Speed: 1150km/h at low alt (2175km/h at high) Ceiling: 19,000 meters The Mig-21 came from the successful design bureau of Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich. The MiG-21 Fishbed F is a short-range day fighter-interceptor and the first major production version of the popular MiG-21 series. It is but one of many versions of this aircraft that have served in the air arms of many nations around the world. The E-5 prototype of the MiG-21 was first flown in 1955 and made its first public appearance during the Soviet Aviation Day display at Moscow's Tushino Airport in June 1956. During the Vietnam War, MiG-21s were often used against U.S. aircraft. Between April 26, 1965, and January 8, 1973, USAF F-4s and B-52s downed 68 MiG-21s. More than 30 countries of the world--including nations friendly to the U.S.--have flown the MiG-21. At least 15 versions of the MiG-21 have been produced, some outside the Soviet Union. Estimates place the number built at more than 8,000, a production total exceeding that of any other modern jet aircraft. The MiG-21F-13 on display was built in Czechoslovakia and flew in the air force of that nation. There were 194 MiG-21F-13's built in that country. Their version did not have a cockpit window behind the pilot's head. ###################################Tips############################################### As some know that the Mig-21F-13 is not the easy to fly and hard to turn. Also The Mig-21 is use for destroying Long Range Bombers , not Low Level Dogfighting. Tip 1: Never Fly over 700 to CAP or CAS because if you set fuel on hard you will never land and crash. Tip 2: At the speeds of 400 to 480 you can out turn anything in the sky but you will lose airspeed to 230 and slow down to be a easy target. Tip 3: You have RWR so use it!!!!!! Tip 4: Over the speeds of 500 you will feel that the aircraft's rudder is not moving because the early models have problems at high speeds and can't move as good like the F-16. Tip 5: This tip should tell you about everything Though a delightful aircraft to fly, with no vices and outstanding all-round performance and manoeuvrability, it suffered (like the F-104A and to some degree Mirage 3C) from being very limited in capability. The 2.470 litres of fuel carried in six aluminium tanks in the fuselage and four integral wing tanks could not all be used without running into problems of stability; the authorized limit was 2.340 litres. This so limited the endurance that it was virtually impossible to reach the theoretically attainable level speed of Mach 2. Moreover unlike the western counterparts no search radar was fitted and armament comprised just two K-13 close range missiles and one NR-30 gun with 75 rounds. Avionics comprised merely UHF and duplicated VHF radios and the usual SRO-2 series IFF a radio altimeter for use below 300m, a radio compass and the fixed ranging radar linked to gun sight. From the 115th aircraft (the first with broader fin) a radar warning receiver was added. Tip 6: Never!!!! Never!!!!! Never!!!!!! Ever!!!!! Dogfight at 3000 ft or less because you will lose airspeed at a turn fight and crash to the ground. This will never happen to a Mig flyer like me!!!! Tip 7: Don't dogfight a F-5 or a 3rd Gen of aircraft!!!! You will waste fuel and never make it back. Update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GASCAN39 Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I like the way this one flies. I downloaded some skins to augment the plane. It looks good in Cuban colors. I always like the Mig 21s, but this model was definitely unique. I like the visibility from the cockpit. So far I have only gone against F-104s, and F-4Es. (I actually have a harder time with the 104 for some reason, splashed a couple of Phantoms though!) Did I screw up the install, or is the stick missing from the pit? Great job, I will fly this one for some time! Quote

Bulldog Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Great job gerald14, I'm just having a strange thing going on with the wheels: Otherwise, this bird's a powerhouse. Fast and Bulbous, as Capt. Beefheart would say. Quote
gerald14 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 I am still trying to fix that problem and the python places. Quote

Bulldog Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Ah, much better, thank you. Just went out and wasted 3 f-104s with it :) I love the F-13 for that 30mm cannon... You can't have enough MiG-21s.... Quote

Wrench Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 the wonky wheels is a well know problem, as is the fix. You just take the landing gear data from the latest, patched data ini. (btw, this same fix can be applied to all the earlier Fishbeds and variants, F/J-7 series, etc) Same goes for the centerline tanke and wing pylons....take a quick look at the data ini's weapons section and compare the mounting data (this might be already covered in the KB, in the Fishbed sections) Good work Gerald! Saved me a bunch of responses! Wrench kevin stein Quote
gerald14 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 Nice, I am working on the earlier Fishbeds like the F-7A and other countries. Quote
Wrench Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I am working on the earlier Fishbeds like the F-7A and other Don't waste you're time with those..... 1) they exist already and have been covered in the Knowledge Base and 2) more importantly, a little bird told me we will probably be seeing totally new ones. Can't say any more Wrench kevin stein Quote
Bulldog Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) Aw man, someone switch their radar on and find that bird....vee haff vays for making it talk.... Edited July 3, 2007 by Bulldog Quote
Bulldog Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 At least now I fixed those old F-7s until these new ones come out...glad I finally looked at the Knowledge Base, lol. Quote
Wrench Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 That's why it's there, and why I work so hard at it. Looking at how many aircraft are already done, and what still to do....I'm slightlly less than halfway through. Still haven't touched any of the WW2 birds.... Wrench kevin stein Quote
