Flyby & Chase Views

Recommended Posts

(S!) ALL hi ;-)

I been meaning to do this for a wile but just got around to it.

I like a good flyby view! I like it long enough so it seems like

A real flyby, when on long missions I like to look at my plane

Flyby on my PC screen, but the stock flyby in FE is much to

Short for me, does not give a long enough real flyby wile looking

At it, so I set out to do something about it, as well the chase view

Always snapping back to middle when you move the joystick, I like

My chase view to stay where I put it till I move it or reset it back to

Middle by key F6.

This is all nothing new, as its been done before for SP1 game, I experimented

With the one for SP1 game in FE game and found some FE views did not work

Anymore, so I just dissuaded to start with the stock FE Viewlist ini and make

The changes form there so we could have all the stock FE views and the

Encasements to the flyby and chase views.

So what we have here is;

1 - Longer Flyby view with zoom in & out.

2 – Chase view F6 that stays where you put it & zoom in & out,

Snap back to middle reset key F6.

To install; go to your ( FLIGHT FOLDER ) put this Viewlist ini in your flight folder

It will ( NOT ) overwrite anything!, now go try it and have fun

If you don’t like it just delete the file and your back to normal again.

Let me know what you think of it and if you all like it then I will upload it here at

CA archives for others that come along and what something like this for FE.

Enjoy…

I just downloaded the Flyby and WOW! It makes the game so much better! Something the game really needed! Now I'll have to play it more often.

Keep up the great work DM!

I have been flying with your Flyby mod for several months. It sure eliminates the annoying view snap-back that the un-modded game has in the panning views. I have mapped the pan views to my Joystick Hat. I have mapped the F4 PadLock toggle to Button2 and the F5 Shoulder View to Button4 on my Saitek Cyborg USB. It sure gives me great "situation awareness". I could not make Shift-F5 give me a "Check-Six" in EP1.

I just recently installed April 2008 hotfix. I soon discovered that I do not infact have the "Check-Six" available (shift-F5) as an key stroke option at all. I have been scratching my head wondering why I am missing it. Then I recalled your ListView mod. I deleted it from the Flight Folder and lo-and-behold "Check-Six" is restored. Have you given any thought to looking at ListView code again and adding "Check-Six" option to the marvalous and appreciated functions you improved in the Flyby Mod?

(S!) ALL hi ;-)

@ OlPaint01, I do not do anything theses days with FE anymore, but seeing

That you are talking about something I did, then I will take a look at it and see

If I can add in check6 view, but am deep in a project right now so cant say when

I will get to it, but I will, as I was also asked to do something for Red Baron 3D so

I will take a week off the project am on now and do them two things for you nice people.

Thanks v. Deutschmark

I know you are busy with Blue Max Project. I can hardly wait for its release. The screenies that you are posting are really special. You may finally convince me to fly "On Line" with you folks in Europe.

I hope you will find time to get back to FE. Your skins are absolutely beautiful.

Thanks Deutschmark!...proper 'fly-by' and 'chase-views' have always been important to me for a Flight-sim to be emersive....not sure exactly why. I loved RB1-2-3 partially because of it but I've struggled with OFF (MS-CFS) for just this reason.
