Yeah, and people say that games that rely on publisher-run servers aren't at a disadvantage.

Good thing I'm not playing any of those MP anymore.

You can play via exchanging IP address though can't you? if not then I imagine a lot of unhappy users who still race in leagues etc. The other option would be to ditch it and give some of the NASCAR mods for rFactor a try, TPSCC mod is rated highly.

I really enjoyed NASCAR Legends, it is a shame they didn't redo that with the newer engine. It would have looked awesome with those Superbirds buzzing around the track. I have never been a huge NASCAR fan....I am more of an open wheel kinda guy....I prefer my left AND right turns. As the driver I worked with in Formula Ford would say "Real men do it in the rain!"

Someone could easily make those cars for rFactor.

well as a league racer I can tell you this isn't unexpected, and to be honest the only thing you're losing are the pick up races and for the most part all you'd find there was mostly newer drivers,or those who just wanted a wreck fest or people who booted those who out ran them. You'd also run into the very rare good race, and it was fun.I never use the public servers any more,to many folks who want to win at any cost(if you know what I mean). So I would suggest join a league, thats where the real competition is,and most use IP,and Hamachi is getting big with them.So again no big deal.

There is an online petition here to save the Sierra support and Blackhole Motorsports has news of an event dubbed "Not The Last Lap" to get drivers to log in at 12:00 EST on the 15th of August to show Sierra that the Nascar Racing community is still alive and kicking.
