snapple2993 Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 For my American History class, I am to read Tim O'Brien's book "If I Die in a Combat Zone: Box Me Up and Ship Me Home", and I have to write a paper on my "thoughts" about it... well I hate book reports, and I think adding some extra flavor to the paper would really help me out. So I was just wondering if any of you Vets would care to share any particularly memorable stories with me and the rest of the forum members. Anything concerning absurdity, cruelty, bravery, etc. etc. Dont be scared to share anything too deep, but at the same time, there is no need to feel pressured. This request primarily goes out to Army and Marine vets, but if you zoom zooms and swabs have anything that you feel needs to be said, please feel free to add your stories too. Please include with your stories: Name, Rank, Service, locations, and names and dates if you care to. Cheers, and Thanks, Jason Saffell Quote

snapple2993 Posted July 11, 2003 Author Posted July 11, 2003 Hmmm... those links were very good indeed, but I'm not looking for an overwhelming amount of heroic stories. I would particularly like to get some first hand accounts of absurdity and perhaps incompetence in the leadership, a soldiers feelings about the government. Just go ahead and Rip Tricky Dicky and McNamara if you feel like it. Thanks, Jason Quote
