Hogpen13 Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 I don't know if it's been pointed out before of not but all the RPMs read incorrectly. The F-4E/G ran at 64%-66% at idle and incressed to 100% then to afterburner. I know it's a small thing but it sure bugs me! :(
RareBear Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 I don't know about the F-4, but many of the earlier jets like the J-57 (F-100) allowed the core engine to vary the thrust with the burner either on or off. You could light burner in the J-57 at about 92% and then vary the engine thrust with rpm between 92-100% with burner on.
