DerAlte Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I have looked in the KB, and have not really found my answer. The Mig-27/23BN and the Harrier GR.3 have a laser nose, but I don't see anything in the avionics file. I think I read some were that these planes can launch LGB without a external pod. I would like to know how to add this line to the .ini file so I could use LGB's without using a external pod. Anyone know how? DerAlte
+Gocad Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) The Laser Designator must be added to the aircraft_data. The avionics file has nothing to do with it. Open the aircraft_data and add this: [Fuselage] .... SystemName[010]=LASERDESIGNATOR .... // Weapon Stations --------------------------------------------------------- ... [LASERDESIGNATOR] SystemType=LASER_DESIGNATOR CameraFOV=2.500000 CameraPosition=0.000000,9.500000,-0.650000 CameraYaw=0.000000 CameraPitch=0.000000 CameraRoll=0.000000 EODisplayFlags=268501249 SeekerRange=28.000000 SeekerGimbleLimit=120.000000 SearchTexture=PaveTackNarrow.tga SightTexture=avq23sight1.tga Edited May 2, 2008 by Gocad
Mladuna Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) I think these plane have a laser range-finder, which is only used for determining the distance between the airplane and the ground. I don't know where this has any use in the game, but i think it affects the accuracy of the CCIP (Constantly Computed Impact Point). Using it for illuminating ground targets for LGB since its in a fixed position in the nose doesnt sound very practical to me. Edited May 2, 2008 by Mladuna

Using it for illuminating ground targets for LGB since its in a fixed position in the nose doesnt sound very practical to me. The later MiG-27's (Mig-27KR) has one in the nose. I think the tactics are for the one from the flight mark the target and another to attack, then switch around. On the GR.3, I think I have to research a little more. BTW, thanks Gocad for the prompt answer. DerAlte
