radar screen

Is there a way to get rid of the radar screen in the top corner of the screen, I know I can cycle the heads-up display and it goes away but there are alot of other visual clues that go away with it that I would like to keep. When I want to look at the radar I can look down at the panel, I dont want it taking up valuable realistate on my main screen!!
