As of tomorrow, we will be 1 month old. We try to simulate a real-world military environment by making customs, courtesies, structure, weapons, ordinance and tactics as accurate as possible compared to the real-life US Army 173rd AIBCT. II. Unit Logistics A) Ventrilo Our community utilizes ventrilo as our primary means of communication on and off the battlefield. All guests are welcome to join us on ventrilo: host: vent11.gameservers.com port: 4784 Keep in mind that spamming/griefing will not be tolerated in our server. B) ArmA Game Server Our community utilizes two dedicated servers for our virtual battlefield needs. One of the two is a public server currently cycling between domination and evolution. The other is a private server utilizing a custom map not released to the ArmA community yet at this time. 173rd Public Server host: 72.55.165.174 port: 2312 Keep in mind that spamming/griefing will not be tolerated in our server. III. Open Positions A) 11B - Infantry Infantry is the backbone of every modern military. The 173rd AIBCT is no exception. As infantry, expect to be deployed via parachute, air assault, light armor, or standard issue legs. You may be a rifleman sweeping sandy streets with an M4 rifle, or maybe a unit designated marksman doing recon on a hilltop using an M24; maybe you can see yourself gritting your teeth over a belt of .50 caliber ammunition in a mobile M2 Machinegun team. If any of these descriptions intrigue you, 11B is right for you. B) 19K - Armor Crewman In the 173rd AIBCT, we have a whole platoon dedicated to mechanized infantry. That said, we utilize the M2 Bradley ICV & Stryker ICV platforms for our ground assault/recon purposes. If manning a 25mm M242 cannon and slicing through BMP armor like a hot knife through butter sounds good, or you enjoy wrestling with the 600 hp diesel engine of an M2 Bradley - 19K is for you. C) 68W - Health Care Specialist Combat medics. Compassionate soldiers with a hankering for kicking some butt when not busy maintaining the health of their comrades. In our unit - when one man falls, we do not move on without him. If dragging an incapacitated buddy across an enemy occupied courtyard or preparing a casualty for heliborne MEDEVAC sounds interesting - you might be a good candidate for 68W. C) 15T - Crew Chief In our aviation detachment, pilots utilize the knowledge of the enlisted crew chiefs for take off/landing, navigation, and aerial gunnery. The Crew Chief is responsible for the well-being and maintenance of the airframe and cargo to which he is assigned. If manning the M240 door guns on a Uh-60 Blackhawk or helping a pilot navigate and coordinate LZ's and flight plans sounds interesting to you, 15T would be a good avenue to explore. D) 153A - Student Pilot If kicking around in the sand isn't right for you, perhaps you would consider our aviation detachment. Our "Casper" Platoon has many airframes to offer - from the AH-64A Apache Attack Helicopter to the UH-60 Blackhawk Utility Helicopter, or perhaps even the CH-47 Chinook Transport Helicopter - we have what you want to fly. If looking through the thermal scope of an AH-64's 30mm M230 Chaingun and providing air cover to ground forces or airlifting combat casualties in a UH-60 sounds interesting to you, you should consider the route of the 153A Student Pilot. IV. Summary If your are a mature gamer of 17 years of age or older and live in North America - we want you! Many of our members are former or current active/reserve duty US Military - so veterans, feel free to drop in your enlistments. That said, if you are not current or former active/reserve duty military, you are most certainly still welcome! We ask that all interested members approach our community with an open mind and a respectful attitude. I hope you drop by today! http://173rdrealism.com/ Respectfully, PVT Millette 19K Driver Edited December 18, 2008 by suhsjake
