Misty FAC Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I bought LOMAC when it first came out. Had a decent computer at the time but it was a slide show. Loaded it on my new current computer ( 2 gig RAM , Athlon 2.5 gig, GeForce 7950 GT w/512 memory) . Still runs like crap. Anyone know of a good one stop shop for apps and advice to get this thing to run like it should have shipped to begin with? Thanks !! misty Quote
+DoctorQuest Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) Don't get me started......... ED has moved on. I have LOMAC running decently on my modest rig but I'm not looking for any help from the developers. I am saving my money for more TW releases and YAP2. FWIW. You might try poking around simhq.com. There are some folks that have done some modding to try to improve the graphics performance of the sim. Edited December 30, 2008 by kirbykern Quote

You'll have to tweak your settings considerably. I had it running nicely on an FX-57 (2.8 gig) 7950 GT and 2 gigs DDR. Expect to drop some graphic settings. Water to medium. Shadows to planar. Vis range to Medium. Scenes to Medium. No mirrors, no cockpit reflections. The sim still looks fantastic even at those settings. Head over to the d/l area and grab my modified terrain, it looks 10x better than the crappy stock terrain. Your rig is basically 4 years old in technological time. Don't expect to run everything at high settings. Quote

You still fly it er have you moved on ? Thinking about doing an upgrade fairly soon my ASUS MB has two slots for CPU. I may drop in another - drop in another gig of RAM for a total of 3 gig and get me another "mo- better" GeForce card. Thanks for the steer ruggbutt. If you have any advice on a good gfx card let me hear it. Thanks Man ! And Kirb - I hear ya. If after I up grade and tweak and use some toned down terrain she isnt smooth - I'll take my CD to the skeet range. Misty FAC Edited December 31, 2008 by Misty FAC Quote
+Ruggbutt Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Misty, regarding vid cards buy what you can afford or what will work well for you for other games. LOMAC and Black Shark are both CPU limited. In other words you want the most badass processor available to fly this sim. As for SLI on the vid cards I'd like to steer you away from that. First off, you get maybe a 30% increase in FPS (in LOMAC/FC/BS) for a 100% cost increase. I tried two 8800GTS' (640mb) in my e6750 rig and I got worse frames. I finally upgraded to a GTX260 (898mb) and I saw not one frame difference. However, with a 20% overclock of my processor I saw a 20% frame increase. Quote
