Hi community,

I am still having some weird issues with weapons in-game, and it seems to be affecting all games for me in the series, except for the Falklands mod. I'm pretty sure I've messed up, but I'm not sure how. OK, here goes. I am running the latest version of the weapons editor, with SFP1, Bering Straigts, WoV, and WoE. All of the sims are patched to the latest revisions.

A few months ago I downloaded a weapons pack (not one by the Mirage Factory though), anyway, it contained a LOT of weapons, but the instructions read just to drop all of the folders into the "Objects" folder within the sim. When I extracted the CAT files, there was not a separate folder for the weapons, although in the Falklands mod, there is.

So, I find myself with all of these weapons which I seem not to be able to use, or are not visible. Example; I just flew a Tornado in WoE, but there were no ALARMS available. Shall I create a new weapons folder in the Objects directory and just drop them in, or shall I just start the whole process again?

Every time I run the weapons ed, it creates a file called "weapons.dat", and when that exists, I find myself not being able to select any weapons at all.

Thank in advance.

Andrew.

I don't reckon you DO have the latest edition of the weapons editor, as it sounds like it is saving it in a fashion unreadable by the latest patched versions.

As to the folders in the objects directory, no, that won't work. You NEED a weapons folder under it, and that is where all the weapons folders go, along with

your compiled weapons.ini, which is made into the weapons.dat.

Go to the Thirdwire site (<<--link) and look for the "Weapon Data Editor v02.20.08 (199 KB) for versions of games and updates released in 2008. "

Hi Spectre,

Yes, I did screw up. I moved all of those weapons into a newly created folder and dropped that into the sim. just went and ran the weapons ed to give me more ALARMS, and hey presto! Problem solved. Sim must be very particular about it's directory structure. I only have a couple more mods I'd like to do now:

I believe there was a mod to add more SAM's, make them launch more, but make them more visible as well. Is that mod still around?

Also, does it hurt to remove the older aircraft? I am trying to make each install as accurate as possible, and WoE I date around the late 80's, so I'd like to remove the early MiGs and tanks. Not sure if this will crash the sim though; would feel better attacking T-72's rather than T-55's.

Thanks again,

Andy.
