The days when I had to worry about whether or not a store would get a game I wanted are long gone. The last time I wanted one and it was sold out was UT2k4 on its release!

I have preordered a few games without discounts since then, but none recently. The only preorders I do now are if I want the game badly enough to get it on release and they have a discount for preorders, like Valve will do with their own stuff on Steam. For example, I preordered FC2 so I got it for $45 instead of $50. I did not preorder FEAR2 since there was no discount. I'm busy with other stuff now, so I'll just buy it when I'm ready to play it or when I see a sale (like I got STALKER Clear Sky for $30 a couple of months before I was ready to start just because of the sale).

Thats cool, i too remember when you had to wait or order it just to get it.
