Go to you mobo manufacturer and see what processors your mobo will support. A processor upgrade might be all you need. If you're maxed out on the processor, then look for a mobo. If you are and are looking at upgrading your mobo and CPU, may I suggest Intel?

I have similar system with cpu a little faster then yours

Amd X2 6000

gtx 260

4gigs Ram

sliders at - 3,5,3,3,4,1...you probably gonna be ok with 3,3,3,3,3,1...don't rush with cpu upgrade, see how it plays with 4600 first

if you decide to upgrade mobo and cpu, consider switching to Intel (better for OFF) and yes, you'll have to reinstall everything
