FE.2b flys again

Recommended Posts

The May issue of Aeroplane Monthly is out and features Peter Jackson's latest addition to his collection of WWI aircarft - a flying reproduction of a FE.2b. This is the first of two to be built in New Zealand using original 160hp Beardmore engines. Other aircraft using reproduction engines may follow.

Its interesting to note that when they ran the Beardmore engine they found that its performance was better than the 160hp it was rated at - 170hp at 1200rpm and up to 200hp at 1500rpm. Operationally the engine was limited to 1200rpm to preserve engine life.

The magazine's website (www.aeroplanemonthly.co.uk) shows a mock combat with a DR.1.

I understand that two BE.2cs are also in production.
