cosmos33 0 Posted April 29, 2009 Is it possible ? Can you be invited to join a squadron ? Can you request a squadron change ?
Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) No, but you can manually edit your PilotDossier.txt file to change the name of your squadron to the desired one. However, there is a small chance this will mess up something in the game and force you to delete your pilot folder. I haven't tried this trick myself, but I'm sure a few people can tell you about their experiences. BTW, the PilotDossier.txt file is located in the OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\Pilots folder. Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted April 29, 2009 I think he is referring to requesting a transfer to a new squadron. Sort of like being invited to join Jasta 11 in recognition of your superior flying skills.
cosmos33 0 Posted April 29, 2009 Exactly can you be invited to join a squadron ?
shredward 12 Posted April 29, 2009 Cosmos, No, you cannot be invited to join a squadron, nor can you request a transfer. There is no mechanism in the manager to do this. The only way that it might be possible would be to edit the files, and that is not advisable - you could screw up your installation. Much better to simply start a new career in the squadron of your choice. Cheers, shredward
Rick Rawlings 138 Posted April 29, 2009 1. Drag a copy of your pilot, log and claims file onto your desktop as a backup. 2. Go into the game and look up the squadron you want to join. Copy down the start and end dates. 3. Create a new pilot in this squad. Close the game. 4. Open the new pilot from the campaign data/pilots folder. Copy the squad abbrieviation that appears near the top of the file (something like "RFC-56"). 5. Open your old pilot file that you want to transfer from the same folder. 6. Paste in this new squad abbrieviation over any old ones that appear. There will only be two or three of them. 7. Find the current campaign date near the top of the file. Make sure it is within the range that you copied down for your new squadron. If not, change it to at least the earliest start date. 8. Don't change anything else! Your new plane or any other data will switch automatically! 9. Save it! Make sure it is a text file with the same name it originally had. (will be something like "Pilot01" or so) 10. Congratulations! Due to you l33t skillz you have now been plucked from obscurity to serve with the big boys in No. 56 Squadron at Vert Galant. What's even better, all your squadmates have been carried over with you! Just watch out for Olham over the lines, he's bloodthirsty! I have never lost a pilot as long as I didn't mess around with anything else! If something goes wrong, copy the desktop backup back into the folder and try again! RR
