This has happened to me before and to others as well. I hit the map key by accident during a scrambel flight and I was returned to the main screen. I had just shot down my 8th fokker Dr1 Jaster6, including 4 named pilots aces perhaps. I still had over 600 rounds after the 7th kill so I was going for a big one and I lost it. I am just dissapointed that I lost such a flight, I was looking forward this pilots carrer.

Guys, will this problem be looked at some time ?

Love the sim, having a ball with it, this glitch was a bit annoying though.

Your backup service has been fantastic as always,

Thanks again,

Speedski

Talked to WM about it - sounds like you need to lower memory overheads - you are running out of video memory.

ahhh... is that what is going on. I've had the same issue.

So then in english, the only solution to such a problem ( which I'll never see ) is getting rid of that 512MB Video Card. And replacing it with 768 or 1Gig Card

By the way: 2X an 8800GT Running SLI, may be outstanding video quality, but it only utilizes 512MB of Video Memory

hhhhmmm, not sure about that. I have a 1 gig 4670 overclocked.... and I am having the issue. I also can't have the sliders passed 11111 if there are any more then 3 or 4 planes around in a furball. otherwise, my framerate suffers terribly. fighting in a slideshow furball is not the way to go.

Speaking to that, I've never kept up to it because I never needed to, but ATI cards are the pits in this game ( proven fact).

I'm running a an Nvidia 8600, 512MB at 4-2-2-3-1 with an average 35FPS . . . 17 Aircraft Furballs . . 14FPS

Ya know, I've heard that here and there in the forum. Somehow the architecture of the game is favored with the NVIDIA cards. I had a 7600GS a couple months ago that would do circles around this card, in this game. tried several amd drivers old/new with my new 4670 and nothing works.

Over on Toms hardware page they have the new ATI 4770 crossfired with a review. retailing for $109ish each, you can crossfire it and be below cost of some of the GT(X) 2XX boards with nearly same or greater performance. However in there test they never compare a flight sim... So while you might be running great graphics for some of the games for a relatively low price, when you come over here to OFF or maybe ROF, you can't even get the card to perform. Guess I'm back to looking at nvidia cards again...

We cannot fix it we can never reproduce it, and we cannot reduce the map size currently. We have very rarely seen it in development I saw it once in 5 years (we mostly use 1GB Nvidia 280 GTX).

Usually it's a CPU, memory or overheating or over stress of texture memory in GPU.

JJ, 1-1-1-1-1 sliders is awful (depends on CPU and rest of system of course) and you still get it with such a low setup something else is wrong. Try some of the tips on the FAQ or in other threads here. Try turning off AA or something. Closing more background programs etc ...

Also overclocking your video card is a bad idea as overheat will certainly cause CFS3 to quit. Same with CPU, if you are getting this reduce overclock.

Hey Pol, well it is a 3.3Ghz celeron, 2GB Ram, 74GB raptor HD, Win XP, 32 bit and then it is the HIS 4670 iceT 1 GB vid card. comes overclocked from the factory, not me manually setting it with Bios or software. I know better then that, nor do I have the experience/knowledge to know what's safe. I will jump over and again run through the FAQ and see if i can pick some more tips up. Do you have a best guess as to where I probably could be with those sliders?...won't hold you responsible for the guess

Don't mean to hijack your thread Speedski...

Don't know much about the latest ATI haven't used one for about 3 years but you should be in the 2's and 3's settings I'd guess with the GPU but does depend as steve58 says on CPU.. Celeron is not renowned for performance but check its heatskink/fan is OK working not clogged etc, and check if it's overclocked.. if so underclock it some.

I vote for changing that 'might' to an 'is'.As the celery ain't been made that can handle the average flight simulator, nevermind OFF

I second that... it's the Celeron.

hmmm... that's intersting. I have to admit, my old puter vid and MB crashed awhile back and the neighbor had a hand me down, which was this HP tower with the 3.3 celeron in it I'm speaking about...(Just hate Dells and HP's, etc) thought stick an extra stick of RAM and vid card in and call it good till I can get back to work...I never researched anything bout the CPU, because it was sitting on my door step.

Ok, well thanks all for chiming in and confirming that, don't know that I could fix anything without a purchase.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback guys. After re-reading my initial post I must apologise for sounding a bit demanding for a fault to be looked at. I did not mean to sound that way. It looks like I am the one that must fix the fault by buying a new computer.

I thought it was a problem for everyone, when it is only people like me running an old system that experience the fault. Thanks Shredward for getting in contact with Winding Man and pointing this out to me. I have my sliders quite down so I have lost a lot of graphic detail but it runs smooth 90 percant of the time. I am happy as it is and I can look forward to new look game when I buy a new system in the future. I must remember not to use the map during a scramble as this is the only time it happens. That seems strange though. Why is it only during a scramble mission ?

JJacobs, I do not feel you hijacked my thread as it is all relevant.

Thanks again everyone,

Speedski
