Cdr84 0 Posted May 6, 2009 Questions, How do I end a campaign mission so as to advance to another mission when; -I run out of ammo and rtb. -Take damage and rtb. Must I return to my airfield? A couple of times I have ended a mission over friendly territory and had to refly the mission again. Not sure how this works, please advise. Cdr
Bullethead 12 Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) Not sure how this works, please advise. To actually end a mission, you have to hit ESC to bring up the menu, then click on END FLIGHT, which is the top option. Obviously, this assumes you didn't crash or get shot down along the way.... If you don't do this, but just go back to the main menu, then it's like that mission never happened, and you have to repeat it. Don't feel bad--I did the same myself early on. You can do this proceedure any time you want. However, unless you're on the ground, this might result in you crashing, becoming a POW, etc. So for best results, only do this when you've landed on an active friendly airfield. But this is really a small risk, and if you do it any time you're well your side of the lines, you should be OK. But be advised that if you do this anywhere from over enemy territory to just barely your side of the lines, you'll likely become a POW. Cdr84 0 Posted May 7, 2009 I should have stated that I had been ending the missions with either shift + Q or using the menu. I think maybe my problem is I have been too close to the front line. I'll keep trying. Thanks. Cdr
Cdr84 0 Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) I am simply trying to end a campaign mission in a way other than flying to all of the way points. It's kinda of silly to fly deep into enemy territory when your ammo is expended or your plane is damaged. I was only wanting to know the correct way to rtb or end the mission so as to continue the campaign without having to refly it. I have scrambled, shot down planes, landed at a friendly base, shift + q 'ed, and have not gotten the claim form and been presented the same mission again. Annoying, Cdr Btw, my $39.99 Edited May 7, 2009 by Cdr84

Annoying, Cdr Btw, my $39.99 Sounds like you have 2 problems there If you want to abort a mission, hit Shift + W as many times as needed to advance to the next waypoint(s) I never use Shift + Q to exit If the Esc then End Flight doesn't work, you may have an install problem You can try reseting OFF in Workshops but you'll lose all your pilots, etc. HTH,

S! Cdr84 Shift+w Will advance your TAC to the next waypoint on your map. Ctrl+w Will take activate the previous wayoint on your map. x Will accelerate time. So what? Well, What i end up doing sometimes in a mission after scrambling to fend off enemy fighters at the air field or go off chasing a two seater for 100miles over whoknowswheresville is this. If you hit shift + w a bunch it will cycle through your waypoints. Once you have the last waypoint activated (last waypoint is home) simply accelerate time. You "SHOULD" end up back at base some 2-3miles from your home airstrip. You can then either land, or just hit esc. and select "end flight" from the drop down. Your mission debrief should say something like, congrats on another flight logged. And then prompt you to fill out any claims if you have actually knocked down an enemy. Hope that helps.
