i fight by 1 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I've been screwing around with stuff again, changed the speed of this aircraft. I set it so I start off in the air btw. Anyway 3000kts and rapidly decelerates to 600kt two seconds, literally. I'm at 29,000 feet too. Anyway my question is, how fast is in mach and how fast would that be if it was traveling at ground level. Quote
Slartibartfast Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Mach 1 is as follows 1,116.4 ft/s 340.29 m/s 761.18 mph 1,224.74 km/h 661.32 knots give or take a few all the above are at Sea Level and at 15 degrees C. But the higher you go the slower it gets depending on height. Quote
+FastCargo Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 And where are you measuring knots...as IAS or TAS...BIG difference at altitude. FC Quote
Lt. James Cater Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 And where are you measuring knots...as IAS or TAS...BIG difference at altitude. FC Oh yeah, VERY big difference! A big enough difference to keep you alive (depending on the aircraft). Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 That was IAS, I was too stupid to look in the cockpit and check TAS Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 BTW, I have to decelerate, if I dont I rip apart. With the air brakes it stops much faster ftw. I've tried to keep going but then I turned into smithereens. Quote
+FastCargo Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Well, what do you expect...you're going about 7.3 Mach (assuming standard day, etc, etc). Just because you give an aircraft an infinite amount of thrust, doesn't mean you're just going to be able to go as fast as you want... Oh, and Google is your friend... FC Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) you're going about 7.3 Mach Wow :O Edited May 27, 2009 by i fight by 1 Quote
zmatt Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) How were you able to do that? I've been messing with the F-16 and all I can get it to do is mach 2.14 at 30k feet in level flight and the engine overheats a lot. And I don't know why it won't go higher than mach 2.14. Edited May 28, 2009 by zmatt Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 TSFC? My guess is add more engines? Quote
zmatt Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) TSFC is the fuel consumption. What did you change? EDIT: I copied the engine and I exploded when the mission started. Edited May 28, 2009 by zmatt Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Ok...changed it a little bit, have only 4 engines for 4 endine IDs, havent tried 8 engines for 4 engine IDs (two for each could that work?) anyway I got this...I made it again so they start off in the air (next time I will try at runway) they start off going 3400+kts and 29000ft, put for some reason the aircraft pulls violently up, like a rockship taking off. I pull airbrakes and pray and I have no finished it so far, I'm going to after this post and I will post Data. BTW This is all on normal except fuel for and visual targeting for testing sake...ok not so much visual targeting as fuel is but, meh. Quote
zmatt Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I just started in the air, and my engine was out. Are you moving the engines around or something? It seems the game wont let you overlap engines. Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Well the others are lost but I started coming down at about 700,000ft and I'm falling at 3,000 fps or something... Quote
zmatt Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 ok so I figured out why my engines were blowing up. I had to add another line elsewhere to put the engines in the fuselage. I now have 3 engines. But something is limiting my speed. I ramp up the throttle to max and I top out at Mach 2.14 again. Heck I can reach mach 2.14 at 43% throttle. The power of my engines are being wasted, somewhere there is a setting that is holding me back. If one of the FM modders could chime in that would be awesome, is there a line that determines the absolute maximum velocity of an aircraft? Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Wow put it on easy, because it is literally a rocket flying straight up on normal and hard, coming down with insane spin....Here what it looks like when I start it up with no thrust BTW It has not blown up from this no matter how fast I go....here it is at full thrust.... Will post Aircraft data in one sec, gotta finish this mission Quote
JRA Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I don't know.. Just wanted to comment.. That's hella fast Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) Posting Data ini... No AB ftw... Edited May 28, 2009 by i fight by 1 Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 I think "MaxRPM", ect. is what you need to change maybe? Quote
zmatt Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) All that did was give me really high acceleration. I still topped out at mach 2.14. There are a lot of values relating to mach tables. I bet they have something to do with it. Unfortunately the knowledge base doesn't get that in depth. I have no idea what any of the values mean. Edited May 28, 2009 by zmatt Quote
i fight by 1 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=9086 <-- the DATA.ini if anyone wants it... If you download it, remember to backup your DATA.ini and you need the Rockwell XFV-12. Quote
zmatt Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Hah, seems I fixed it. I was looking in the wrong place. You have to change some lines in the FlightControl section. I changed the MaxSpeedSL and the mach limit. I ended up going to mach 7.14 and reaching 190k feet. Quote
