Can you save your keyboard file?

Recommended Posts

I'm not happy with the MCFS3 default key commands, so I spent a lot of time setting up what I thought was a really nice keyboard map.

And then my PC crashed. HARD.

Before I start this process again (practice makes perfect)....is there a way to save the keyboard maps? Is it an external file somewhere that I can put on my backup drive, and then replace in case I reload again?

I looked around in the OBD directory and nothing caught my eye.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

I have my Keyboard commands Heavily modified, mostly to eliminate any 2 or 3 Keystroke Commands into singles

Commands that Normally are of Little use in OFF, Such as my Labels are "L" which is dashboard lights, totally useless in OFF

My Keyboard Commands are listed as STOCK and MODIFIED in my Documents

As a consession to paranoia . . . . Print it out, and Hide it under your mattress . .

Yeah, I got rid of those modifier commands and simplifed everything. Find friend = 'F'. Kill engine = 'B'. I've got my spreadsheet print-out, but I'm not sure how final it was, and it sure would be nice to be able to save the file.

.

c:\documents and settings\xxxxxxxx\application data (appdat in vista)\microsoft\cfsww1 overflanders fields.. where xxxxx can either be administrator, or your user name, depending on how your computer is set up

find the mine.xca...this is your keyboard map as you have set it up in the controls section.

do belive if you save it,,and loose your system, copying over the saved one will give you back your previous maps....

Outstanding!!! Thank you!

This is going to be a big help for those of us who like to re-do the mapping from the ground up.

Mods - maybe this should go in the tips & tricks sticky?
