RAF_Louvert 101 Posted August 10, 2009 I returned home this afternoon from work and there they were, waiting at the back porch door for me. I now have them set up, software installed, adjustments made as per Check Six's excellent instructions, (thanks again Steve), and I am flying OFF with rudder pedals! WOOO HOOO! It is SOOOOOOO much better than twisting the stick. Now then, I need a rumble chair like Rickitycrate's, and a table fan with a castor oil spritzer atop my monitior and I'll be right there! Cheers! Rickitycrate 10 Posted August 11, 2009 I'm happy for you Lou. That's the one bit of working kit I'm missing at this point. Enjoy, cheers!
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted August 11, 2009 TKS Rickitycrate, I'm having a blast with 'em already. It's amazing how much more rudder response you have with the pedals vs the twist stick, (and I know others have noted that before, but...WOW!). Now then, about this rumble chair Sir... Cheers! Check Six 2 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) I returned home this afternoon from work and there they were, waiting at the back porch door for me. I now have them set up, software installed, adjustments made as per Check Six's excellent instructions, (thanks again Steve), and I am flying OFF with rudder pedals! WOOO HOOO! Lou Lou, are you able to adjust the tension on your pedals (the huge "dial" in between the pedals)? Like I said, the only problem I have with mine is that I can't adjust the tension. I guess I just got used to it now, and it really is acceptable as it is out of the box. But I cannot budge mine AT ALL. I was hoping when you got yours, you would be able to report whether you were able to adjust it easily. Since then, I was bored at work, and watched HEAPS of YouTune clips, and there was a series on FlightSim hardware and software reviews (can't recall its name). The reviewer reached down to the pedals and twisted the dial using his fingertips. I got on my hands and knees and GRIPPED WITH BOTH HANDS and struggled with all my might to rotate it (even so hard that the rudder pedals moved forwards and backwards by my efforts) but I can't move the sucker. I guess I could return the product, but might be without the pedals for months (and they really ARE useful, not that they are unworkable). Maybe there is a switch or lock that you adjust, I couldn't find it. PS. You forgot to mention the leather helmet and silk scarf. THEN you'd be right there. Guest British_eh Posted August 11, 2009 Great stuff. I love the pedals, and personally think it adds as much to the Sim as TIR. Speaking of, I broke the darn thing, so I may have to ask for the new TIR 5, for my birthday Cheers, British_eh
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted August 11, 2009 Check Six wrote: Lou, are you able to adjust the tension on your pedals... Yes Sir, that big tension knob on my set turns as it should and has little "click" detents that you can feel as you turn it. Sorry yours is stuck Steve. I have mine cranked all the way to full tension, which feels about as it should to me. And British_eh, it is for sure great stuff. I am learning to dance with my Camel all over again. Cheers! Rickitycrate 10 Posted August 11, 2009 Lou, since you mention the chair, again, and as how you live in the great state of Minnesota I can say that Target and Wal-Mart stores have variations of the chair. Also remember to bear in mind the Goodwill stores and maybe paying $100 less for the same thing. Some of the chairs available now are wireless. Unless you are 12 years old you want a chair that has a pedestal and armrests are nice. Perhaps a handy fella could easily figure a mount or base to raise up one of the models that sits on the floor. One last point when shopping for a game chair.. frankly some of them are uncomfortable and lack proper back lower lumbar support. So ya might want to sit on it before spending the big ones.
