FalconC45 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I'm thinking of improving my HDR mod because I heard small complaints of being too dark. For the those who uses my mod, what's your opinion of the mod? Is it too dark in some angles or no? Most of the complaints came from seeing the screenshots by the way. Falcon Quote
Caesar Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I had some issues with it changing contrast; when I was looking straight ahead in the cockpit (through the HUD), it'd have a darker contrast, but when I looked down (panned the view down towards lower gauges), it would brighten up. I think this would happen depending on the view point externally as well. If it were more constant, I'd probably use it, because I think it certainly does look good. Quote

Where was the sun in game when the cockpit was dark? Sometimes when the sun is at my 6 the cockpit brightens and vice versa. Hmm. Let me chew on this. Falcon Quote
Caesar Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) If I remember correctly, the sun was above the cockpit straight ahead, so I'd expect it to have been brighter looking straight out. I don't think it mattered the angle that I was at though; it seemed even if inverted when I looked down, the screen brightened. Edited August 23, 2009 by Caesar Quote

Thanks Ceasar. FYI I was trying to create what TK did with the FE cockpits with the shadows. Looks I have to tweak the ini file some more. Falcon Edited August 24, 2009 by FalconCAF Quote
FalconC45 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) OK. Tweaked the file but it changed the look kind of. Took screenshots in the cockpit and out of the cockpit. This isn't final, I have few more ideas to try out. But any thoughts on the screenshots? Falcon PS. HMMM that's strange. The cockpit was brighter in game... Edited August 24, 2009 by FalconCAF Quote
FalconC45 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) OK tried few things. But I don't know for sure it was improved the lighting in the cockpit. I'm gonna try out the forum's attachment tool so here's 2 F-4E ARN-101 (86) cockpit screenshots. Like I said this isn't final. Have few more tricks to try out. FalconC45 Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 EUREKA! I think I solved it. Although IMHO in-game world is bit bright. Anyway I'm gonna post up screenies and the ini to let you test. Hmm can't upload ini's ok. PM me if you guys want to test it out. Falcon Quote
+PureBlue Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the Beta 1.01. It's not dark and gives nice bright visuals. I tried the default ini, not the alternate one. The only thing I can report is, late afternoon, when it just gets dark, the trees kind of look like they're reflecting too much light. But no big deal, it might be my environment settings, flying this in WOE 4xSeasons SF2E. Approaching target POL site, with a flight of F-100 escorts. Edited September 1, 2009 by pureblue Quote
