Fubar512 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 An interesting account of a pair of boat builders really showing faith in their product, a 21' foot (6.5 meter) outboard powered 'flats" boat. A flats boat, is designed for shallow water operation in and around coastal flats, such as those on the Gulf-side of the Florida Keys. They're not designed for blue-water fishing, having low freeboard (hull-sides), and a sporting a low-profile bow, not the ideal setup for cutting through tall waves and providing lift when going into steep wave-faces. They started out in Florida, ran up the east of North America, traveled east from Labrador, and eventually reached Germany, with stops in Greenland, Iceland, the Faroes, the UK, and then across the North Sea, and onto the Continent. http://www.boattest.com/Resources/view_news.aspx?NewsID=3757 Quote
