SAITEK X-45 issue

Recommended Posts

Well, after a few months without flying, I decided to take my X-45 off the closet and make a couple of scrambles in BoB. After a few minutes I remembered why I wasn't playing anymore, the throttle seems to disconnect randomly during the flight, the button lights go on and off and the overall performance of the stick is affected.

I think the problem lays somewhere in the connection between stick and throttle, but due to my total lack of hardware skills I have no idea of how to fix it.

Any suggestion?

Hello bobrock,

A bit late response to your question, but better ever then never. I have the X-45 and up to a certain point, had similar problems. It looks like this... The throttle is build around sliding trims (for thrust operation) and vario pots'n'knobs (sorry but my English is not so adequate when it comes to technical stuff but I'll do my best). Over time, the sliding trims and knobs get dust contaminated, causing function interruption (God, my English sucks ).

Solution:

If you consider your self skilled do it your self - open the throttle (several screws and there you are), take an air compressor, blow out the dust, and then apply some contact spray or whatever you call it...

or,

take it to some electronic repair shop (like I did). They confirmed the dust contamination, sprayed it a bit so that it works like new!

Respect,

Sydious

Hi..

sorry,,i never even knew this thread existed.....

ive got several x45s....when you say lights go out,,do you mean all of them?

if its all the lites, and if its the same problem i had, it was because of a bad usb port....and switching to another port solved the problem..

if its just the throttle light,,and the joystick lites stay lit,,,,i had that too,,,in that instance it was to due with something bad in the joystick....and the problem took out my trackir too......

and naturally, make sure you thottle connection to the joystick is plugged in good...
