Just ordered the Game But still Have questions

Recommended Posts

Just ordered this game, and a copy of CF3 also to play it since I can't find my old CF3 CD anywhere (long gone it seems).

Anyway my question is this since I really don't remember CF3 all that much or its features, but my most favorite game was RB3 for WWI combat. What I like most about it was the control you had over your squadron if you were the leader IE the people you bring on missions the amount of people flying etc.

Does OFF have a simular system like RB3? Ie what can you control in the squadron if your the leader of the whole thing? I can't remember all the features of RB3 but I do remember it was pretty epic in its control of off mission features like squadron control and stuff.

Just wondering because I can't wait, and need to keep my mind busy.

I also have Track IR 5 so hopefully it works good for OFF.

Also have windows 7 so hopefully that won't be a problem. I see it runs under VISTA without too many troubles so Win 7 should be even better.

Anyway thanks. :)

Dear Malkuth,

U can control ur squadron members to attack, regroup, split or even help u with the following keys (A,R,S,H).

for the rest there should not be any issues with the trackIR 5 or even windows 7. I run the same setup with no problems.

Enjoy the best flight Sim ever.

Cheers

Morris

It is best to set yourself to be the leader otherwise you have no control over what happens. And those you fly with are assigned to you, which is realistic, at least. You can choose how close the others get to you in the flight - it helps to keep your own people away otherwise they may crash into you in a dogfight. If you run with the 'dead is dead' options you will be lucky to survive for long which is also realistic.

You can even fly up the Thames and through Tower Bridge if you are with a 'home' squadron. I also strafed the Houses of Parliament

Actually, it's not.

If you guys have frustrations, go fry a sausage. That's why we hang them on the line.

Enough already!

Hmmm maybe I wasn't to clear on what I meant. I understand the squadron controls when your flying, but I want to know what you can do as The leader of the Whole squadron on the ground, IE aircraft assignments, and who is flying what mission and stuff.

If I remember Red Baron 3D the on ground control on your squadron before the actual flight time was pretty elaborate, I just can't remember what everything was you could do. The only game that I know that beat out Red Baron 3d in this aspect was The WWII Bomber Sim The Mighty Eighth. B17.

As far as I know there is no such feature (yet) in OFF like the one you are describing in RB2.... I think people may have misunderstood what you mean.

Malkuth is talking about managing your sqaudron (planning missions, asigning men to a flight etc) ... not controlling wingmen on a mission. I agree the level of control over mission planning was fantastic in RB2, I can only hope it gets added in a later phase! Reb baron still has the most in depth campaign engine.. but OFF is gradually catching up! So far you have to take the mission the game gives you no matter what your rank....

Correct me If I'm wrong Ive never got past 2nd lieutenant!
