Eventually I have shot down another aircraft - a Roland CII with my Fe2B.

When asked to fill out the claim form I had no idea of the names of the other pilots, so I put in my own pilots name.

and it was confirmed!

Pilot Jim Attrill was wondering. His claim had been confirmed, although he had only written

his own name in as witness. So he travels to the Headquarter, to see how the guys work there.

When he arrives, he can see a lot of craftsmen activity. Ladders are leaning at the building;

many people on the roof are trying to saw something to pieces, that looks very much like the

light greyblue tail of a Roland C.II

Coming closer, he asks the men, what is going on.

A sergeant explains.

"One of those young fighter pilots, a Jim Attrill, from a squadron not far from here has shot

this Roland down. And then he had the cheek to send in the claim form with

only his own name filled in as witness!"

Jim asks: "But he didn't get that confirmed, surely?"

The sergeant: "Me, I would have shot the guy! But our Colonel HAS confirmed it - unbelieveable,

but true. He found, if a pilot has the nerve to send in such a claim, then he may have the nerves

to fight the Red Baron! But I tell yer: if I can put my hands on him first, I'll put him into prison for

4 weeks on dry bread and water!!!"

"Well, as it goes at the front these days", says Jim, "he might well be shot down already, hm?"

And then he steals away to his motorbike.

Actually my pilot is called Fred Bloggs  For those who don't recognise the name, it is the sort of idiotic name you give when stopped by the police for riding your bike without lights.

Come to think of it, ALL my pilots are called Fred Bloggs, so maybe it was one of the others that was a witness. No, that can't be right unless there is OFF after death or imprisonment. Anyway, giving them a silly name stops me getting upset when they (inevitably) bite the dust. If there is anyone reading this whose name is REALLY Bloggs, I apologize in advance.

I think my next pilot will be Claude Shufflebotham, just for a change. I'll put him in the DH5 and see how he does.

Just out of interest, what does it mean when I get sort-of black tunnel vision, can I actually pull enough G to blackout? Sometimes the vision comes back just before I hit the ground. This seems to be a HitR feature, I don't remember it from before, and I have had plenty of practice at spinning into the ground. Talk about 'immersion' I spend most of my time immersed in mud. But I haven't had as much fun for years.
