almccoyjr 7 Posted January 1, 2010 I migrated from XP_64 to W7 Ult_64 and have noticed a change in the frequencies I can now assign. I don't know if this change is affected by the driver or the OS. I was hoping someone might be able to chime in. Under XP_64 using 182.67 WHQL 64, I was able to run 1920 X 1200 @75hz. That's the "sweet spot" Sony documents for my GDM-FW900 24"glass monitor. When I went to W7, I went with 191.07 WHQL 64 and noticed that the available frequencies I had were less. I could run 75hz but nothing lower should I want to. So I tried 195.62 WHQL 7/Vista 64 and now can only run 1920 X 1200 @85hz! Now that's hot; much more heat coming out of the vents. If anyone is running XP32 or 64 and the 195.62 driver, please let me know what range of frequencies you have to choose from. If this is driver driven, I'm going to have to go back down to 182.67. I know my 28 inch monitir runs best at 60Hz, but it also has (and I don't know why it would) setting 59Hz. But I can set it up to operate up to 75 manually if I want, but like you say, I cna see the shimmering of a mirage out the back of the thing. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The resolution isn't the problem, It's the frequency I'm being forced to use without any options initially given. ConradB 0 Posted January 1, 2010 Yeah it is under the resolution part. Click the Add Resolution Button at the bottom. Then click on the Create Custom Resolution button. The options are all there Horizontal Vertical Refresh Bit Depth It lets you test your settings ahead of time. They just tucked it away a little more than the old Control Panels. I took a closer at the documentation and found that their "nominal" rating for an analog monitor is 85hz.....bull^#%#$%. Same person or people that wrote that were probably also the ones that "borked" 8-bit support. Or, it could be, sh------sh------ they are in a conspiracy with the monitor manufacturers to get people to burn up their monitors and force them to buy new ones, thereby enriching the monitor manufacturing cartel.
