Morris Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 To the WW1 historians, Are there any confirmed “ROCKET” kills during aerial combat? Just curious! Morris
JimAttrill Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 IIRC the rockets were inaccurate and short range and were only used against balloons which were a rather large and inflammable target. They were called 'Le Prieur' on the British side. However, who knows what might have happened? I've personally never heard of an aircraft kill with a rocket.
Slartibartfast Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 If I remember rightly read the following :- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air-to-air_rocket I have read this in a book I have on the Soviet Air Force as well. I think the Le Pieur rockets where only used on balloons as they would be too inaccurate for a plane...
Morris Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 The reason for asking is because i have had several kills in OFF with rockets at close range. It does work and the kills are confirmed. Thanks for the info gentlemen. roger roger m
