Nick Tselepides Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 (edited) Did you know that RAF Buccaneers won most, if not all, of the low-flying exercise competitions in Fallon Nevada, Red Flag, Germany, Corsica, the North Sea, and elsewhere, beating all other aircraft? It is true. Their competitors: F-4, F-15s,Tornadoes, F-16s, Skyhawks, A-7s, Mirages, Jaguars, F-14s, FA-18s, etc etc... Edited May 5, 2004 by Nick Tselepides
zagnut Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 I saw a modern day compendium on the RAF planes in the last 20 years or so on DC Wings. The Buc was right up there with the Tornado, yet I never really knew much about it.
+BUFF Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 (edited) As they said "the only replacement for a Buccaneer is another Buccaneer". :) Loved by it's pilots for its supreme low level ride/handling it was possibly the greatest strike aircraft ever - if the airframes had had the hours left & with an avionics upgrades to modern standards they would still be at the top of the tree. Gone but not forgotten... Edited May 5, 2004 by BUFF
