emengency 0 Posted February 12, 2010 Hi everybody, does anybody know, how it's possible, that there are tanks on a runway ? Was hit by a SA7, all rudders trimmed to the edge, flying more sideways than ahead. Declared an emergancy and had clearance to land. And then vehicles on the threshold, saw them too late and crashed into one. How can that be while an emergency landing ?
Hag 0 Posted February 12, 2010 IRL vehicles get on the runway as well. Especially when your aircraft is having difficulty landing, such as low fuel, over heating engine ect. Consider it as close as it get to real life. Try to watch the runway better next time. Hag

And then vehicles on the threshold, saw them too late and crashed into one. How can that be while an emergency landing ? I'm in the Air Force and I have NEVER seen a vehicle on the runway unless the jet has already landed and they are responding to it. If there are jets in the air and no jet is on the runway, you wont see a vehicle on it.
Hag 0 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) @Cali: sorry to here that mate. I'm not in the AirForce, but I drive on the runway all the time. Recently we were going about 120 on the left while an a/c was landing ( the same direction as we were going ) on the right. I really don't care to post many, many youtube videos of vehicles on the runway, I'm sure you can find them easily enough. Hag PS I've never seen aliens either, but that doesn't prove they don't exist. In other words, NEVER seeing something proves only a lack of knowledge or experience. Maybe where you work that is allowed, but from what I have SEEN and HEARD....it doean't happen in the Air Force. So your comment on lack of knowledge or experience, you can keep that to yourself. The Air Force seems to do things safer sometimes. What aircraft was trying to land when you where doing 120? And where are you located at and work at? Hag 0 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) So your comment on lack of knowledge or experience, you can keep that to yourself. Sorry mate, I didn't realize you were soft skinned. I'm very sorry for unintentionally hurting your feelings. Seriously, next time you are in Florida I owe you a beer. Or the next time I'm in Phoenix. I'll help relieve your ignorance. Does that word work better? I'm sorry I can not find a non insulting word for when someone is wrong. If the video doesn't work it's probably due to my lack of knowledge or ignorance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFFr50wWKOY Hag PS Want to guess how fast he was going? FastCargo 412 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) Hey Hag, Tell you what...I'm an airline pilot and a military pilot. The runway stays clear when an emergency (or any aircraft) is on short final. There is no one in the way for an emergency aircraft to land. Any vehicles, even inspectors, get out of the way until that jet is rolling out. Once that emergency aircraft is rolling out, then you'll see vehicles on the runway, crash response, inspections, etc. The exception I've done is riding chase on Deuces landing at Beale AFB. But what the hell do I know...been flying aircraft for 20+ years. So, you can either give helpful advice, or you can leave. Hag 0 Posted February 20, 2010 The exception I've done is riding chase on Deuces landing at Beale AFB. Thanks mate... so what you are saying is that I gave helpful advice? Thankfully no one had an emergency here. Hag @FastCargo: Summary 1. How can there be vehicles on the runway. 2. It happens, try to watch better. 3. Cali replied that he's NEVER seen a vehicle on the runway 4. I tried to help by showing that he was incorrect. 5. You've helped answer the first question by stating that you have indeed driven down the runway while an a/c is landing. 6. I've added another video to show that crap sometimes happens. Reiterating that you should try to watch the runway better. You also stated that I should give helpful advice or leave. I add that you should give correct information as best as possible and if you are incorrect, learn something, say thanks. So can I stay? Are you just looking for free beer as well? Hag 0 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) @FastCargo: No emergency here! This wasn't your crew, was it? Silliness is still allowed, right? Another for fun: Hag, NEVER seeing vehicles on the runway Edited February 20, 2010 by Hag

Cali 6 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Hag, maybe you need to go back and read my 1st post. I have been on the runway with an aircraft on it during a EPU emergency while it caught the barrier. So before you go around trying to act smarter then everyone else, do yourself a favor and make sure you understand what's being said. Yes, vehicles do get on the runway sometimes during operations and thqat's normally a bad thing. Edited February 23, 2010 by Cali
Hag 0 Posted February 23, 2010 @forum: I apologize for Cali's off topic use of this thread for personal attacks. I will not continue the 3rd grade pedantics from an obvious pundit. @ Cali: Again, I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. Hag

I just tried to tell you that I have never seen nor heard of this. Then you come at me with your crap. My feelings weren't hurt, it takes a lot more then that. I was just trying to prove you wrong...which I did. And your comment about the 3rd grade crap just made you look dumb. Because you continued your insult by name calling. The best thing for you to do is be quiet and crawl back into your hole. Love ya
emengency 0 Posted February 23, 2010 If I would have known that my question leads to this discussion, I'd never have asked ! What I wanted to know was if somebody could declare this situation in the SIM !!! CALI is right when he says this would never happen under airforce rules. And a runway inspection on an Intl. Airport has nothing to do with my question. A criminal in a pick up either. SRY for my english, I'm German, quasi a "KRAUT" :-)
Cali 6 Posted February 23, 2010 Sorry that this got blown out of proportion. The military has strict rules regarding aircraft and vehicles especially when it comes to them trying to land or take off.
