zippykat 0 Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) I've searched the forums but seem unable to find my exact problem. Here it is: Whenever I "Go to Field" in OFF the game crashes to a black windowed screen for CFS 3. There is no error message. I have tried lowering my graphics and I have tried running as administrator. catch 81 Posted April 13, 2010 Does OFF run on DX11 ?
Flyby PC 23 Posted April 13, 2010 Hang in there Zippycat. Are you saying your system ran OFF ok, that is actually flying, most of the time, but got progressively worse until it wouldn't run at all? Over what time period? Could it be dust in your system overheating your graphics card and losing performance? Try giving your PC a spring clean with the hoover. I'm not an expert, but if OFF has run correctly at some stage, then it might not be an installation problem. I'm a bit out the loop with OFF problems, but CFS3 used to crash if there was a problem with the aircraft your left ready to begin next session. If the aircraft was deleted or altered, CFS3 couldn't load it up for the new session so the whole thing crashed. The solution was to delete the uisel.xml file so you'd start on default settings. I have to say however that OFF is less troublesome in this regard because there's much less need to tinker under the bonnet. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable than me will chip in soon, but welcome to the forum anyway.
Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted April 13, 2010 Although you said you have reduced your slider settings, please tell us what you have set them to anyway. How many hard drives, cd drives and other peripherals? What is the output of your power supply? The only thing that stands out from your systm specs is your Page file setting. You have 4 Gigs of RAM but your page file is only 2248. You need to at least double that figure. I have XP, so I don't think I can tell you how to increase your page file setting, but I'm sure someone else with Vista will come along and help.
Barkhorn1x 14 Posted April 13, 2010 Does OFF run on DX11 ? Yes, it does. I have a new rig w/ an ATI 5670 card and DX11 and have no issues running OFF. BUT, the issue for this fellow is that he has a GeForce 6800 and that is a DX9 card. So - install DX9 - don't worry it will exist beside DX11. And that should get the sim to load. However, that card is woefully underpowered for this sim. Better off finding a more recent replacement.
