It seems from a few recent posts that a "sticky" on the correct uninstall procedure for XP, Vista, and Win 7 for both OFF and CFS3 would be much appreciated by many. Particularly as P4 is imminent:grin:

I personally haven't got a clue apart from bits I've picked up here and there and I'm obviously not alone in that.

I'm sure this is covered in the FAQ. But to summarize ...

OFF can be uninstalled in the usual way. Something along the lines of ...

... ControlPanel/AddRemovePrograms/OverFlandersFields

The CFS3 components that are installed with OFF with also be removed.

I believe you also need to go to Application Data\Microsoft\WWIOverFlandersFields and uninstall that.

Here is a trick.... If you are going to reinstall, save the ConfigurationOveride.xml and Mine.xca, found in the above Applications folder (I'm doing this from memory but these should be close) to someplace. This will allow you can put them back in with out having to go through the hassle of setting up you CFS3 Config (video preferences) and your joy stick if you have assigned keys to it.

I just fought this out last weekend so I speak from recent experience.

Also, if you are reinstalling up through HiTR, after you load Phase 3 you will need to load the patches 1.32 and 1.32g (available at the official website), before installing HiTR. After that patch up to 1.47.

Good Luck,

Beard

Thanks for your input. I don't intend to do an uninstall but just thought it'd be good to have the info in case it's needed. I have read the FAQ - I always look for the answer before posting - and, yes, it mentions a normal uninstall procedure. But as Burning Beard mentions, it also involves removing some folders and, if a recent thread is anything to go by, editing the registry.

It's just that when P4 is released next week  then I want to be ready to uninstall P3 if necessary without losing too much flying time.

I don't want to be stuck in the mess doing paperwork when there's a war to be fought:salute:

There is a folder under "documents" that does not self-uninstall but has to be manually removed called "CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields".
