Olham Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 (edited) Although I never was the big Rolling Stones fan, I do like their stuff more over the years. Favourite albums are "Let it bleed", "Beggar's Banquet" and "Exile on Main Street". Now there is a Remaster made of the last. And I read absolutely controverse opinions. Some say, this was the remix/remaster, that brings out the sound as it was meant to be, when it was made: rough and dirty - others say, it was too soft and not rough enough. I can't hear it, since my record player broke down some time ago, and I don't have no CD of it. Now I'm wondering, if I should get the older CD, or the new one? Does anyone here know both versions? And what do you say? Edited June 5, 2010 by Olham Quote
Barkhorn1x Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I have the album on CD from about 15 years ago. Sounds awesome to me. Don't know why they need to mess w/ the original mix as that is what the Stones and the producer wanted at the time. Quote
Guest British_eh Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Hi there, A CD will give you limited sound reproduction, so I don't think you will be able to tell the difference between the new and the old. Perhaps a good quality used CD is a little cheaper than the new release. If you want to actually listen to it, then you will have to purchase a record, which has a better range of dynamic range and sound, and reproduces the sounds acurately. Cheers, British_eh Quote
