Aussie IL2 LAN meet and competition

Recommended Posts

For those that weren't aware an IL2 LAN meet is being held on Saturday, August 28, 9am - 9pm in Sydney as part of the Australian Flight Simulation Expo. Entry is $15 and there is ample parking available for $10 for the whole day.

The IL2 part of the LAN is being coordinated by 'Rusky' of No457 Sqn. and apart from just flying TE missions, dogfights and campaign there will also be a 'Top Gun' comp held in the afternoon. Prizes include a complete CH HOTAS comprising of F16 Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals as well as a Combatstick and CH Yoke courtesy of PC Aviator and CH Products, 10 copies of Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 courtesy of Microsoft Australia and 20 subscriptions to Computer Pilot Magazine. There will also be trophies awarded to the place getters in the Top Gun comp.

UbiSoft will be in attendance showing off a late code demo version of Pacific Fighters which may well also be available for use by a special chosen few over the LAN.

Entry to the LAN also gets you entry to the Aust. Flight Sim Expo exhibition areas and access to the seminar area where there will be speakers such as RAAF F18 pilot and defence simulation specialist Flt. Lt. Tom 'Houch' Gleeson, flight sim historian Peter 'MigMan' Inglis and flight sim novel 'Get Real' author Bill Smith. There will also be a number of flight simulation movies shown throughout the day including a 45 min Discovery Wings channel documentary.

For those coming in from interstate (or even overseas) that don't want to bring their pc but would like to take part in the event hire pc's (laptops through to high end P4's or just monitors if you choose to bring your box and peripherals) are available for the day through MicroHire at special Aussie Expo rates, just ask for Guy and mention you'll be at the Aussie Flight Sim Expo.

Registration before the event is not mandatory but is strongly advised to avoid delays in entering the LAN due to the venues security procedures.

Cheers all, I hope to see some of you folks on the day. :-)
