Dogfight Mission Pack V1.05 (screenshots)

Recommended Posts

I changed them quite a bit from an earlier version where you flew with three wingmen. Now you fly either alone or with a single wingman.

The difficulty was how to make the AI in these missions challenging - I found (or learned) a way to do it but had to halve the number of enemy fighters. To balance the odds you only have a single wingman. Fair is fair.

If you like dogfighting I think you will enjoy them.

(It is a LOMAN package)

The idea behind this missions is to be able to fight a mission from different perspectives.

I managed to use all the options that LOMAC makes available to make in this last revision of this pack the AI very aggressive.

The enemy fighters will react to you if they can (low fuel makes them try to avoid you) – if before they did not like you, now they positively hate you!

I also placed a couple of  GAI (scramble ready) flight at each and every enemy Air Base.

This means that the whole area is alive with fighters and until the end of a mission you will still encounter opposition.

I Made identical sets of missions – one for ATI9800 type cards and one for GFORCE3 cards. The GFORCE3 missions do away with weather effects and objects this way regaining a lot of FPS.

Because there is a smaller number of AI fighters FPS is higher (yes, LOMAC is indeed CPU limited) and the missions less prone to stutter – so you do not  need a ‘ninja’ PC to fly this missions.

Most missions last around thirty minutes and the only way I found to survive was to ALT-J as soon as I expanded my AAM load, reinforcements arrive in every mission and you can find the timing for them in the mission briefings.

You will notice that each flight has a label (FRA, RUS, GER, US) but the scramble flights have only a GAI label – this will help you to identify them

here is a short briefing for the Su-33 and F-15 mission - later on I'll post one for the german MiG-29A missions.

MISSIONFLOW105.jpg

RED DOTS => were reinforcements should arrive

YELLOW => enemy forces

GREEN => the CAP route you can follow (*)

Enemy fighters will follow the Yellow routes at first - you will have a chance to ambush them as they try to engage other fighters.

(*) not the same as your waypoints

GROUNDTARGETS.jpg

RED DOTS => strike package targets

If the strike package is successful, it will reduce the SAM/Flak threat.

(HAWK SAM sites usually have Gepard/Roland units attached to them)

REINFORCEMENTS.jpg

Reinforcements arrive at these times - you can use them to (ALT-J) jump cockpits.

You will notice that GAI flights will appear in the second half of the mission, these are being scrambled because you approached their Airbase - take them out as they are taking off.

You can also fly the A-10 ...

or the Su-25.

There are plenty of targets to be hit, unfortunately there are many enemy fighters trying to shoot them down.
