Hellshade 110 Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) Hey Everyone, I've been messing around with nHancer 2.5.9 (for nvidia) and they have a 3rd option in it for AntiAliasing besides Multisampling and Supersampling. If you choose Combined and select 4xS, Enhance in Game AA and turn AA Gamma Correction Off I found I got a nice little 5 FPS boost - minimum. Even while recording videos I am often at 58 - 60 FPS. 45 FPS over airfields. Obviously different rigs are going to get different results especially depending on all of the other different options like resolution, etc but if you have an nvidia based card and are currently using 16xQ Multisampling for your AA - you might wish to just try the 4xS Combined sampling option and see if it helps your performance. Here are a few screenies I took using FRAPS showing the FPS overlay in yellow in the upper right hand corner. There are both 32 and 64 bit versions of nHancer so make sure you get the right one for your OS. Edited January 3, 2011 by Hellshade

UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted January 2, 2011 Actually, it's not a windows 7 issue...but a Nvidia one... "Nhancer 2.5.9 doesn't work with Nvidia driver versions 25x.xx and higher as Nvidia has redesigned it's driver and how it handles profiles" (from the nhancer forum)

UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted January 3, 2011 I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. Geforce drive 263.09 Release. Hellshade hmm...Just doesnt work for me at all...the nhancer logo pops up...then nothing Win 7 64bit Nvidia 260.
Hellshade 110 Posted January 3, 2011 hmm...Just doesnt work for me at all...the nhancer logo pops up...then nothing Win 7 64bit Nvidia 260.99 Perhaps it's compatible with just the newer driver specifically for the GTX 580 card? When I go to Nvidias driver page and search for a GTX 480 card, the latest driver that shows up is the 260.99. Bummer. Apparently the 263.09 is written purely for the GTX 580 / 570 series and for whatever reason nHancer works with that. That kinda blows. You probably have the right one but just for completeness sake, you have the correct 32 or 64 bit version of nHancer? I'm reaching, I know but it's worth asking. http://www.nhancer.com/?dat=downloads Hellshade

Hellshade 110 Posted January 3, 2011 Yeah, got the right one..64...What a bummer!..Oh well Well, if you haven't already done so..try turning off Antialiasing Gamma Correction in the Nvidia control panel. That seemed to put a little extra drag on the framerate too as I recall but didn't add anything noticable to the visuals. At least it did for me.
