The only problem I see with engine power in models is the vibration and fuel proofing required, so that the airframe is especially heavy and overbuilt. I wouldn't attempt to model something with an engine if I was trying to capture the feel of an old kite's fight envelope. Especially if the plane is a lattice tail.
