BVR and hitting the same target twice

I've playing doing BVR engagements lately, so far I think it's my favorite as I tend to survive more this way (lol). Mostly using the F-22 or EF, however the issue I have is that I hit the same target twice.

For example, using the F-22, in TWS mode I can cycle trough targets. I can lock one and fire, then cycle target and lock it then fire, but let's say, there's no way to know if I'm targeting the same aircraft unless they are separated.

 

How do you guys avoid hitting the same target twice?

I lock the target and hit F8. I will often lock up the lead blip at extreme range and as it comes into firing range I order my wing man to attack it, then I give the order for the squadron to engage air.... at this point the enemy is going to have a massive spike on their RWR and the formation will usually break, also as you close on the enemy formation the better your radar will separate individual aircraft in the enemy formation.
