Yes. USN squadrons fly from carriers, USAF and USMC squadron are land based in the campaigns.

A few of the USMC are based from carriers right?

By default, I don't think so. I'm not able to see the Vietnam campaign ini files right now.

In real life, yes, they do attach to a CVW.

No for real SF2 Vietnam

-VMF(AW)-212 Lancers F-8E Crusader stationed on the U.S.S. Oriskany

Linebacker I&II:

-VMFA-333 The Shamrocks F-4J Phantom stationed on U.S.S. America both deployments.

You have to go to VietnamSEA.INI and put in NavalMap=TRUE

Then, find your VietnamSEA Water Map BMP, and Insert "Friendly" water areas.

Copy the green color From IcelandNA's Water Map BMP, and apply it to VietnamSEA's Water Map in any shape or size you like.

Noted - I can try this over the upcoming weekend.....

And THAT makes my NAVY-single missions start from the carrier? Sounds strange without having the ini's before my eye... :boredom:

By the way: has anybody found a way to make those nice escort ships appear in Vietnam as well???

Thanks!:drinks:

In June 1972, VMFA-333 deployed on board the USS America (CVA-66) and conducted mission over Vietnam. It was during this deployment that the squadron got its only air to air kill when Major Lee.T. Lasseter along with his RIO, Capt. John D. Cummings shot down a MiG-21 over North Vietnam, near Hanoi. After the shoot down both aircraft were damaged by flak and an SA-2 SAM, which hit 5526 in the tail section. Close to running out of fuel and with 5526 on fire from the SAM hit, the pilots ejected just south of Haiphong Harbor. The incident was also the first and only all-Marine kill during the Vietnam War. Two other Marines shot down MiGs but they were on exchange with the Air Force.[1] For the rest of the 1970s, the squadron remained affiliated with Carrier Air Wing 8 and made several deployments aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN-68). Major Lee T. Lasseter later assumed command of VMFA-333 and was named Marine Aviator of the year for 1972.

Sid,

Where do you put that text? In the [Terrain] section or [MAP]?

I edited the map and added the line above, but the terrain then wouldn't show in the menu window.
