UK_Widowmaker Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-18417009 Creepy to see the Musket Ball still in place where it killed him Quote
Bullethead Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Pretty cool. He must have been off away from where the main lines stood and died in heaps, so was missed when they came around picking up the bodies a few days later. Quote
DonL Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Thank you for posting I find battlefield archeology interesting. Quote
Flyby PC Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I wonder how the body was preserved below ground however. I'm a bit confused when the video says he was laid in a shallow grave but then they can interpret his last moments from the posture. These are mere details of course, but what a stunning find to come across. It rather suggests if they can find one, there may be more, although I hope the battlefield is not now plundered for artifacts. I have a suspicion the presence of that ball was the reason the body was found. I'm guessing it was a metal detector. Quote
+elephant Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 He had also some coins with him... Very interesting! Quote
