slick cowboy Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I've been flying the French F-100D again off late and I was wondering if the French didn't use french-made bombs and matra rocket pods to arm their Huns. I did some browsing on the net, but couldn't find anything... I assume the French would have started using French weapons after they left NATO, no??
Peugeot205 Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I'm totally sure that when they were recieved they used American weapons. However , at France, we have been always very protectionist at defense issues so I assume that they also used weapons similar to that ones of the Vantour, Mystére and Mirage III. Just speculating. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qWGNBD6GDg

slick cowboy Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 okido thanks that's clear then!
mertio23 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 ...in November 1970, 8 french air force F-100s performed an "airstrike" over french navy base at Hyères, dropping toilet paper loaded in the airbrakes ; ) Now I really was not aware that this happened, but it actually does sound rather amusing... I have a rather awesome mental image right now, and it's GLORIOUS!
Toryu Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Seems like ventral airbrakes do quite invite these kinds of actions - a USN F-8 also toilet-papered a soviet Trawler that was maneuvering into a carrier! @Cliff: Thanks for mentioning the book (I didn't know Eric Moreau had already written other books besides his magnificent three-piece work on AdlA Mirage IIIs!) - my credit card s already glowing!
+Cliff7600 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Same action, AD-4N Skyraiders this time still over a french base
